Together, One Voice, One Community: National Hmong American Farmers to Host 7th Annual Small Farm Resource Conference
Fresno, CA — National Hmong American Farmers will host the 7th Annual Small Farm Resource Conference at the Ramada University Hotel, 324 E. Shaw Ave., Fresno, CA 93710.
“This conference is about allowing the farmers’ to share their stories, building alliances, and coming together to connect agency resources to those who need it or do not have equal access,” says, Chukou Thao, Executive Director of National Hmong American Farmers (NHAF).
This year we are welcoming Paul Wenger, President of the California Farm Bureau. Wenger, who farms in Modesto, became a statewide officer in 1997 when he was elected second vice president. He was elected first vice president in 2005. He also served as a member of the CFBF board and chaired the CFBF Water Advisory Committee and the Board Water Development Task Force. He is a former president of the Stanislaus County Farm Bureau. In January 2011, he was elected to the American Farm Bureau Federation board of directors, and was re-elected in 2013 and 2015.
This event will give farmers the opportunity get hand-on lessons and get a better understanding of working with groups to better their farm operation. Many farmers are socially disadvantaged and are limited resource.
Groups present at this year’s conference are U.S. Department of Agriculture, White House Food and Nutrition Services, Department of Pesticides, Wells Fargo, University Cooperative Extension, Community Alliance of Family Farmers, Cultiva De Salud, Hmong Veteran Farmers, Black Agriculture, Lideres Campesinas, CA Farm Bureau, Ag Commissioners Office, and much much more!
