Tents vs cars in parking spaces walking tour

Date:
Sunday, April 03, 2016
Time:
9:30 AM - 12:00 PM
Event Type:
Teach-In
Organizer/Author:
David Giesen
Location Details:
American Youth Hostel
312 Mason Street
SF, CA 94110

Come along on a real estate walking tour with Democratic County Central Committee candidate David Giesen! It's a survey of SF social movement history viewed through the lens of the control of land values as the determinant of political power.

A relevant application of this perspective is Giesen's advocacy of assessing a $10/month fee for parking a car on the city's streets and using the revenue for homeless services. "Prioritize people over cars on public land. Either charge cars to take up space curb side, or permit the homeless to pitch a tent where Priuses now sleep."
