Attend and Support the Health is Freedom Community Health Fair on April 16th 2014

The African People’s Education and Defense Fund (APEDF) will hold an annual health-fair entitled “Health is Freedom” on April 16, 2016, at Akwaaba Hall in the Uhuru House, 7911 MacArthur Blvd, Oakland, CA from 11:00 am to 4:30 pm.
This event will follow APEDF’s mission in addressing the grave disparities in health and healthcare within the African community, particularly in Oakland.
The life expectancy of an African living in East Oakland, a majority African community, is 17 years less than someone living in Lake Merritt, a white community.
APEDF will work to combat the conditions that the African community faces with this health-fair.
There will be professionals from different areas of health, exercise and nutrition at the fair to educate and advise to the African masses.
There are commitments from: Alameda Mental Health; Juvenile Diabetes Association; and Wanda Stewart, from Black Ag, a black agricultural cooperative in Oakland, to name a few.

APEDF Oakland encourages Africans to participate
APEDF’s main goal is to build long-term relationships with the African community and as many health services as possible.
Since its renovation in October 2015, Akwaaba Hall has given our people access to the health resources, with a beautiful atmosphere.
Monthly screenings, classes, ongoing forums and presentations, will be available to our community.
The APEDF health-fair in Oakland will be an annual event that will put the power of health and well-being into the hands of African people.
Do not miss this important community event! For more information, please email oakland.healthfair [at] apedf.org or call Akwaaba Hall 510-569-9620.
We are 100% volunteer and depend on your participation to sustain our efforts!
