Former journalist Alison Weir will explore findings from her book, "Against Our Better Judgment: The hidden history of how the U.S. was used to create Israel," which documents the history of the Israel Lobby in the United States. Weir will also discuss distorted media coverage of the region, her trips to Gaza and the West Bank, and why American taxpayers continue to send Israel nearly $10 million per day.
Weir is the founder and executive director of If Americans Knew. She is one of the most prominent and controversial analysts on Palestine today, with a variety of Israel partisand and others attempting to block her talks and prevent awareness of her book, while diverse others, including 2,000 activists who have signed an Open Letter supporting her (among them some of the most respected justice advocates in the US and Palestine), praise her work and consider her book essential reading. Over 22,000 copies of her book have already been sold.
A Q&A session will follow her talk, and books will be available for purchase on a sliding scale.
Cookies and coffee will be served.
Free and open to the public
Wheelchair accessible
Public transit: 22, 522, 23, 11, 63, 64, 72, 73, 81, Hwy 17 Express, MST 55, Dash, LRT, 181
