The day after Valentine's Day, we gather to rally for the land, hear updates on the active campaigns already fighting the development, and hold space for collaboration on new ideas.
We encourage groups to discuss action ideas ahead of time, and come with a list of specific tasks or roles you need help with.
This will be the first in a series of spokescouncils where active groups can share information with one another, so that individuals and other groups may act in support of one another, and coordinate if desired.
~*~*~*~
Did you know turkey, deer, and other critters roam the Gill Tract as their home? Come see the turkeys nesting and the deer trotting through this beautiful piece of land that is so full of time.
In particular, the Northside Gill Tract Community Farm is being told that the bees, who are 90% of the pollinators of our productive, organic farm, must be removed by Monday! Protect the bees and tell the UC admin, "hands off our pollinators!"
Defend the Bees!
The amazing, rich topsoil that makes up this urban farmland is so full of microbial life, that which gives us nutrients, and is currently being razed by bulldozers and destroyed. Come stand up for the beautiful soil that can feed so many!
Defend the Soil!
~*~*~*~
Why we gather:
1. To rally as a community in support of the Gill Tract -- public farmland currently under assault by commercial development.
2. To gather groups planning actions to defend the land. Groups are invited to share information so that individuals and other groups may act in support of one another, and coordinate if desired.
3. To engage individuals that want to plug-in and help one or more of these groups.
