How many times did the People of San Francisco sucessfully blocked SFPD from acquiring TASERS?
4 times already....
2004, under Chief Fong
2008. under Chief Gascon
2010, under Interim Chief Godown
and last 2012, under Chief Suhr.
Yet, Suhr's demagogy does not stop at lying to the public and covering up for his officers. Shamelessly, he is once more trying to secure a contract with Taser International, pretecting that Mario would still be alive if his force would have tasers.
However, TASERS KILL.
We will meet in the Latino Conference Room, downstairs by the Cafeteria.
MODERATORS :
Jeremy Miller, co- director of Idriss Stelley Foundation, member of Anti Police Terror Project (APTP), and Anchor on Mutiny Radio;
Nick Pasquiarello, community activist
PANELISTS
Aram James, author, anti taser longstanding activist;
Jeff Adachi, director of the Public Defenders Office;
Jennifer Friedenbach, director of the Coalition on Homelessness;
Leroy Moore, director of KripHop, Poor Magazine reporter, poet
mesha Irizarry, co-director of Idriss Stelley Foundation;
Steve Seltzer, Unionist
(possibly 2 more, TBD)
The purpose to today's forum is to revive and revitalize the former SF Anti Taser Taskforce, that demonstrated, time and time again, that David can and will win over Goliath !
WHAT WILL COME NEXT ?
On January 21, 2 pm, the Rule Committee will meet at SF CIty Hall on room 201, to rule over the issue of Tasers. It looks like the committee may want to bypass the prior 4, successive resolutions of the SF Police Commossion to rule out the use of tasers. 'We will need to pack the Chambers!!
