Come along on Dave-o Giesen's 17 years and running walking tour of San Francisco Social movement history.
Religion. It used to was the most unifying story in Europe and the Western Hemisphere, but now not ten in a hundred adults under 40 can tell you what culture is beyond Sunday football or shopping with Amazon. I speak of the Bible. I speak, not as a believer in supernatural goings-on, mind you, but as someone interested in stories that call out the deepest potential in the human heart and mind.
And Jehova and the book Yahweh shows up in called into question, "JUST WHAT ARE YOU UP TO?" There has been a lot of horror because of that question and the ascription to that book of a program for how to act. But here's what is most relevant: Who controls the earth? Dat's the Bible story, folks.
And the resounding message is, people don't control the earth. I mean the cosmic earth.
Come along on a walking tour that explores the theology that lies deep down underneath the Protestant Reformation but which Protestant logic perversely followed to the death of God and the extolling of private property.
Come along on a walking tour that will provision you with a meme with which to unseat the landlords of the land. It's a dense introduction to San Francisco social movement history which recreates for under-forty-somethings a story that challenges the present dull acquiescence to private property in land's political power.
It's free. In the sense that there is no fee for joining the tour, it is free. But the cost is enormous. In the sense that your anemic concept of humanity's purpose will be obliterated and your life will take new directions which cost you conventional acceptance, this walk will cost you big-time.
