After being featured on CNN and in Vice News, one of San Francisco’s last remaining arts collectives – The Convent – announces an exhibition of works and processes by resident artists past and present. The opening will take place Thursday, December 3rd, 6:00-10:00pm, at The Convent Arts Collective, 660 Oak Street, San Francisco. The event is free to the public, and the exhibition will be on display through the month of January during gallery hours and by appointment.
The show, entitled Art’s Not Dead SF, embodies diverse works by San Francisco artists thriving communally, amidst the exodus of many due to rising costs of living. Since its formation in 2011, The Convent has housed a myriad of San Francisco’s artists, with mediums ranging from interactive sculpture to visual arts, writing, music, and performance. Contributors include: Rich Trapani (a.k.a., “Rich DDT”), known for interactive installations at The Tech Museum of Innovation and The Exploratorium; muralist Lauren YS; sound-artist Gabriel Gold, noted for performances at de Young Museum, Grace Cathedral, and Chartres Cathedral; multimedia artist Michaelangelo; abstract expressionist Ryan Zweng, whose works adorn the SF Public Defender’s Office; and more.
