Enduring Power’s striking images represent the aspirations, fears and realities of women from Yemen, Egypt, Bahrain, Iran and Kuwait. Several female photographers of Middle Eastern backgrounds present an intimate and unique perspective of an otherwise private world to the American audience. “These women are empowering themselves – against all obstacles. They are not weak or afraid. They are powerful and energized.... Let their stories be heard.” — Sina Araghi, curator.
• Join us for a FIRST FRIDAY Exhibit RECEPTION and FILM SCREENINGS: Friday, December 4, 6:00 – 9:00PM at RCNV, 612 Ocean St., Santa Cruz. Two showings at 6:00 and 8:00PM of several short films: “The Trials of Spring.” Nine courageous women fighting for peace in a state of war in Yemen, Egypt, Bahrain, Libya, Tunisia and Syria. Tunisia: Keeping the Promise; Libya: Wake up Benghazi; Syria: Brides of Peace; Egypt: Life’s Sentence; Bahrain: Our Oath; Yemen: When is the Time. (45 minutes total). At 7:00PM, Tata Masud, Founder and CEO of Senses Cultural, Davis, California, will speak about the exhibit. Light refreshments will be provided.
