21 min Ms. Deon Haywood, Executive Director of Women With A Vision (WWAV), speaks about reproductive justice and the New Orleans community at an event organized by Social Work Students United for Reproductive Freedom (SWURF) on Tuesday, November 3, 2015 at Tulane University.
Women With a Vision is a New Orleans-based community organization founded in 1991 to improve the lives of marginalized women, their families, and communities by addressing the social conditions that hinder their health and wellbeing. Since Hurricane Katrina, Deon Haywood has led this organization to a vibrant locally-rooted international network that addresses the complex intersection of socio-economic injustices and health disparities.
At this event, Deon Haywood discusses ethics through the lens of reproductive justice and reproductive rights, who and what is involved in the reproductive movement, the mission of Women With a Vision, and what community members can do to participate in the current reproductive movement.
This is part 1 of a two part series pulled from the event Reproductive Justice: Ethics in Human Services.
