Joseph Matthews will present his novel, Everyone Has Their Reasons, based on the true story and life of the Polish-German Jewish teenager, Herschel Grynspan, living without papers in Paris. On hearing of the round-up of his family in Germany, he walked into the German Consulate in Paris in 1938 and shot dead a consular official - the ‘act’ that supposedly was the cause of the ’spontaneous’ Krystalnacht pogrom two days later.
