Come along on a free walking tour that treats the following social conundrum.
Realtors say you're a genius (or had a crystal ball) to have bought in the San Francisco housing market because now you are well on your way to economic security since you can sell or rent out your fat gain in equity.
Are the rest of you/us schlubs? Why didn't you buy a piece of nature under the buildings of San Francisco?! Why aren't you share-cropping the earth? Don't you know that to be a prince/ess you have to own the ground under other human beings? No wonder you're a shrill housing rights advocate. Perhaps you'd shut up if you owned your own chip of God's green earth?
Come along on a walking tour that challenges land owners to acknowledge that land values belong to the community and should be taxed away to pay for streets, museums, schools, and all social infrastructure.
Come along on a walking tour that challenges land renters to acknowledge that land values belong to the community and should be taxed away to pay for social infrastructure.
In the meantime, the geniuses duke it out with the schlubs, though both agree that sales tax and earned income tax should come before righteous, vigorous advocacy of taxing away all land values.
Prepare to no longer register as schlub or genius after taking this walk.
