The Friedrichs Case: War on Labor & Public Services
The US Supreme Court lawsuit Friedrichs v. California Teachers Association is part of the 1% agenda for belt-tightening and austerity. It seeks to destroy organized labor, the chief opponent of privatization and budget cuts to public services. Discuss how to mobilize to stop these (misnamed) “right-to-work” laws that drive down everyone’s standard of living. Speakers include Nancy Reiko Kato, UC public worker with AFSCME 3299 who is organizing to defeat Friedrichs, and Andy Libson, a Mission High School teacher with Educators for a Democratic Union and is an Executive Board member of United Educators of San Francisco.
