San Francisco peninsula residents gave voice to human injustice in Mountain View on May Day. A 3-mile march culminated in a rally with rousing music performances and passionate speakers in the city's center.

A fitting topic for International Workers Day, Filipino-American activists spoke of the fate of Mary Jane Veloso, a victim of human trafficking, who was spared execution at the hands of Indonesian authorities in recent days thanks to the efforts of a labor group that intervened on her behalf.

Samina Sundas of American Muslim Voice said our African-American brothers and sisters need us now, and referred to protests in Baltimore, NYC, and Oakland against killings by police.

The event was for comprehensive immigration reform and was supported by groups including the Day Workers Center of Mountain View.

Signs say "Stop Deportations Now" and "Stop Forced Migration". Migration is forced due to economic conditions in places like the Philippines, and victims like Mary Jane Veloso fall easy prey to human traffickers. Ms. Veloso was accused by the Indonesian government of drug smuggling when, in fact, she was promised a job in S.E. Asia and had heroin tucked into her suitcase without her knowledge.
