Dana is the Pali word for generosity or giving freely. It is the inclination to give without expecting anything in return. Dana Cafe is held every 1st Sunday of the month in our North Oakland Temescal neighborhood. Each month, Dana Cafe invites different social change educators, teachers and facilitators from various arts and healing traditions to lead a session. These transformational teachings are offered to community as a gift and there is no cost to participate. We are now celebrating our 2nd year of engaging community in this way!
Join us for a special extended evening workshop of heart/mind nourishing exercises, food and gifts as we move through our theme of Healing Justice for the Open Hearted Warrior, honoring the Dana Cafe collaborative in two years of 100% volunteer-run, community supported sustained abundance!
As change makers, advocates, healers and trail blazers we must tend to our own well-being, healing and self-care as equally paramount to the work we do in our communities with and for each other. This integrated evening will balance exercises and wisdoms from Moon Rabbit Ayurveda offering hands on herbal medicine teachings to help us become our own empowered self-healers while fierce women with black belts from Oakland’s Hand To Hand Kajukenbo Self Defense Center lead us and our inner warrior on pathways toward exploring healthy connections to ourselves and to each other. Together, with Dana Cafe co-founders, we will investigate what it means to cultivate and maintain healing justice and an open heart on our many paths of courage, activism and service.
