The Bay Area Anarchist Book Fair is one of the largest annual radical gatherings in the world with thousands of people attending and over 100 vendors sharing books, pamphlets, posters, artwork and more. Celebrating it’s 20th year, this annual event is open to the public, and welcomes people interested and engaged in radical politics to connect and learn through book and information tables, workshops, panel discussions, skillshares, films and more. It is an inclusive space to introduce new people to anarchist ideas, foster productive dialogue between various radical and Left political traditions, and create an opportunity to discuss radical politics, philosophy, and social movements.
There will be nearly 100 vendors and exhibitors, including many established Bay Area groups such as PM Press, AK Press, Bound Together Books, and Arizmendi Bakery, as well as vendors from across the US such as CrimethInc, Left Bank Books, and Melville House. There will be children's programming and activities throughout the day. A full list of vendors is available at: http://bayareaanarchistbookfair.com/vendors/
The Book Fair features a full day of programming with more than 20 workshops on topics such as conflict resolution, gentrification, cooperative economics,, direct action, utopian fiction, surveillance, self-care, and more. Session hosts are available for comment or interview. The full schedule can be viewed at http://bayareaanarchistbookfair.com/schedule/
This year’s Book Fair has 3 different posters designed by local artists and was printed at the worker-owned cooperative Inkworks in Berkeley, CA. There will also be a visual timeline of Bay Area anarchist history of the past 20 years created during the event.
This is the 2nd year that the Book Fair will be at The Crucible in West Oakland. Previously, the Book Fair had been held at the Hall of Flowers in Golden Gate Park until moving to the Armory Community Center in 2013, and The Crucible in 2014.
