On Friday, April 3rd from 4pm-6pm we will once again sit down on the sidewalk on Alvarado Street in violation of Monterey's Sit/Lie Ban. If they really want to have such a discriminatory law (which clearly targets homeless people and travelers), then let's clog their bureaucracies with lots of citations! There are no fines if you don't do it again for 30 days.
At previous demonstrations no participants were cited, a clear sign of selective enforcement. We will continue challenging this law, which is only one expression of Monterey's war against people without homes!
If you don't want to risk a warning/citation you can still stand near us and display signs.
Meet in front of Walgreens on Alvarado Street in downtown Monterey. Bring signs and lawn chairs if you would like. We will continue this action on the first Friday of every month from 4pm-6pm.

unlike santa cruz, where you can sit legally if you bring your own chair, in monterey it is not allowed except for wheelchairs and strollers.
Any phone, e-mail, or website contact points for the groups supporting the protest?
I renew my invitation for activists involved to contact me to speak on Free Radio Santa Cruz about the issue. Call Robert at 831-423-4833 or e-mail me at rnorse3 [at] hotmail.com .
I also encourage anyone who's received a Stay-Away order in Santa Cruz under the notorious anti-homeless "no court oversight" Stay-Away law MC 13.080.100 to contact me.

...on how many people have been cited under this law on days other than the ticket-free symbolic protests?
Also any contact info? I'd like to an interview for Free Radio Santa Cruz.
