Date:
Tuesday, March 03, 2015
Time:
2:00 PM - 3:00 PM
Event Type:
Critical Mass
Organizer/Author:
Location Details:
East Bay Regional Park District
Board of Directors meeting
2950 Peralta Oaks Court, Oakland CA

http://www.ebparks.org/about/meetings

from the board agenda:

C. BUSINESS BEFORE THE BOARD
1. CONSENT CALENDAR
d. Authorization to Enter into a Contract with TASER International for Phase One Replacement of TASER Devices: Public Safety Division

This is an elected board because they can and do levy property taxes. If you own a house or if you rent, you pay property taxes. Show up or correspond with your representative on this board and tell them NO.

This is not about the Orwellian "less-than-lethal" weaponry, the EBRPD has an armored assault vehicle and serious old-school lethal weaponry at it's disposal. It currently has the new-school lethal TASER weaponry but we are to assume it's getting a little long-in-the-tooth and needs to be replaced and/or upgraded. Have these directors not been paying attention to what has been happening with the militarization & federalization of police forces since September 11, 2001? This needs to stop and this is the perfect place & opportunity.

Be wary. Why does a regional park district need a police force? While covering two counties, both counties sheriffs are more than happy to expand their duties. Regional park districts want these forces because of what will be enforced in the near future as the masses are cordoned off in the "workforce" housing areas and will need money and/or permission to visit more natural areas.
