Location Details:
Niebyl-Proctor Library – 6501 Telegraph Ave – Oakland

Join us for a discussion with David Bacon, investigative journalist, activist, author of The Right to Stay Home: How U.S. Policy Drives Mexican Migration. Bacon exposes the way globalization and U.S. policy fuel the forces that drive Mexican migrants across the border. He will be discussing the conditions that push people to leave their homes and journey to the U.S., where they face criminalization and further exploitation by bosses who pay them poverty wages – if they even pay them at all. He will also discuss some of the recent so-called “immigration reform” legislation and how it fits in with the continued mistreatment of migrants.
