On Saturday afternoon, November 22, 12-year-old Tamir Rice was hanging out with friends around the Cudell Recreation Center, near his elementary school, in Cleveland.
He was doing something that can get you killed in AmeriKKKa—if you are Black. He was playing on a playground. Like millions of kids do all the time in yards and playgrounds, Tamir Rice was goofing around, twirling a toy gun.
Tamir Rice was Black. And now he’s dead. Another Black person murdered at the hands of the police.
What happened was caught on video. Watch it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xhVewrqGFRw
Memorial to Tamir Rice and all Lives Stolen by Law Enforcement, Speak-Out and March.
NO MORE to police patrolling our communities like occupying armies and gunning down our children playing with toy guns, whether it is 12 year old Tamir Rice in Cleveland or 13 year old Andy Lopez in Santa Rosa.
We invite all friends and family members to represent for their loved ones murdered by police.
We invite all people who are particularly targeted and abused in this system - Black and Brown people, immigrants and Moslems, women and LGBT people, or those who are mentally ill.
We invite teachers and students, and religious people of all faiths who believe that all children's lives are precious.
We call on all who are determined to end this epidemic of police murder to come together and build for a National "Shut Down Business As Usual" on April 14th
