JOHN A. POWELL, UC Berkeley Professor of Law, African American Studies and Ethnic Studies; author of "Racing to Justice: Transforming Our Conceptions of Self and Other to Build an Inclusive Society" will talk about current aspects of the Black Lives Matter movement and its impact on the consciousness of our society in the United States and the world.
T0M AMMIANO, former State Assemblyman, political commentator and humorist will speak on current progressive and non-progressive trends in The City and the State.
JANET WEIL, CodePink, will be Mistress of Ceremonies.
Recognition awards will be made to local activists Gloria La Riva, Tim Redmond, Nadia Kayyali and Larry Danos, who will speak briefly on their issues of civil liberties, racial and economic justice and the rights of people and the earth.
