Oakland Stands Up for Mike Brown, November 24 photos
St. Louis county prosecutor Bob McCulloch made certain that the grand jury he impanelled and guided did not indict Ferguson police officer Darren Wilson for the murder of Mike Brown on August 9. People began to gather in downtown Oakland before the grand jury verdict was announced on November 24, expecting that the rigged system would not hold Wilson to account. After the verdict was announced, over 500 protesters marched through the streets of Oakland, blocking the 580 freeway for over two hours. Later, protesters returned downtown and showed defiance against a growing number of police.
