Ken Jacobs will discuss the growing movement to pass citywide minimum wage laws. He is the chaIr of the UC Berkeley Labor Center, where he has been a labor specialist since 2002. His areas of research include low-wage work, health care, and labor standards policies. Along with Michael Reich and Miranda Dietz he is co-editor of the 2014 book: When Mandates Work: Raising Labor Standards at the Local Level. His work has been featured in the New York Times, NPR, the San Francisco Chronicle and the Washington Post, among other media outlets.
Quintin Mecke is Campaign Manager for Yes on Proposition G: San Franciscans against Real Estate Speculation. He has served as Director at Barbary Coast Consulting, Director of Research and Communication at San Francisco Human Services Network, Community Organizer at the San Francisco Neighborhood Partnership and Communications Director for California Assemblymember Tom Ammiano. He is currently Program Director for the Safety Network Partnership, a citywide program promoting community-driven responses to crime and violence.
