A lively, engaging, interactive talk

Social Philosophy with a Wallop
David Giesen, International Baccalaureate educator, local historian
will present the case for embracing a social philosophy that
**assumes competence throughout the citizenry
**presumes humanity are naturally social beings
**demands equality of access to nature
**recognizes that the economic value of land arises with the rise of community
**esteems reciprocity as a necessary component of justice
This program will first give comfort and cheer,
then occasion spiritual self-reflection.
No single event you attend this year will so electrify your allegiance
to morality or mammon or mendacity
No Sabbath or critical-thinking program will so wholly
set your soul burning for goodness
or escape from consternation
in the Martin Luther King, jr. Room
