The Art of Protest, 1960s-1970s
Twenty-six original silk screen poster prints documenting campus social protest movements
Organizing has changed since the 1960s, but the use of images to attract people continues to be a key to success. Then as now, most protestors require an inexpensive medium. The posters in this exhibit were usually printed on discarded fan-fold computer paper that was available on college campuses. While these posters were mostly concerned with ending the war in Vietnam, others were about the draft, government surveillance, political prisoners, and protest itself.
