This event commemorates the International Day of Peace.
Speakers include:
Kathy Kelly is co-coordinator of Voices for Creative Nonviolence, a campaign to end U.S. military and economic warfare, and has worked in Afghanistan as a guest of the Afghan Peace Volunteers. She has traveled extensively bringing aid to victims of war in the Middle East and elsewhere.
Professor Stephen Zunes is an American international relations scholar who specializes in Middle Eastern politics, U.S. foreign policy, and strategic nonviolent action. He is on the faculty of the University of San Francisco and recently returned from areas of conflict.
Both speakers will update us on the volatile situation in the Middle East and explore ideas on how we can all participate in the journey toward justice.
Refreshments available at minimal cost. Wheelchair accessible.
Sponsored by Unitarian Universalists for Peace & Justice-San Francisco, Voices for Creative Nonviolence, and Campaign Nonviolence. Donations will benefit the educational projects of the sponsors. The sponsors focus on public educational efforts related to peace and justice issues in the United States and in countries abroad, always advocating for nonviolent tactics and diplomatic and legislative strategies to attain their common goals.
