The acclaimed environmentalist, author, journalist and activist Bill McKibben will be speaking at Grace Cathedral on October 14th for only $15! His talk, "Updates on the Front Lines of the Climate Fight", will describe the current state of global warming through an explanation of the basic math and science of climate change. He will share updates on the movement working to end our reliance on fossil fuel energy and creating a world powered by renewable sources. Bill McKibben has been a great voice to environmental education and stewardship and I am hoping members of your community will have the opportunity to come hear him speak. I would like to hear McKibben speak . While he and his group have sad , unjustified illusions in the democratic party (that is easily contradicted by their real practice not their rhetoric ) I think they have done a lot to educate people about the mortal danger that Climate change presents.
But as someone who only makes $15 an hour (before taxes ) after a long period of unemployment I think there is no justification for a very well financed group such as his charging so much .
Do they not want those that are most likely to be affected first by this environmental crisis to hear what's happening ?
No this event if not free should beat least billed as '' NO ONE TURNED AWAY FOR LACK OF FUNDS ''
