South Sudan: 50,000 children may die this year of war, disease, famine

by KPFA Weekend News/Ann Garrison
The Ugandan army continues to occupy, at President Salva Kiir's invitation, and it's hard to imagine how the opposition, which calls itself the real SPLM/SPLA, could keep going unless Ethiopia is supplying their troops. Uganda and Ethiopia are two of the military partners that the US relies on and empowers most in Africa, so the U.S. might be said to be playing both sides as this disaster escalates. In a new collaboration, the US will spend $110 million/yr. for 3 to 5 years on enhancing the military capability of 6 African nations including Uganda and Ethiopia.
