Berkeley High Teacher Brian Crowell On (B-PAR) Program & The Attack On Public Education
Brian Crowell who is a teacher at California Berkeley High and a shop steward
with the Berkeley Federation of Teacher BFT talks about why he became a
teacher and how public education is now under attack.
Crowell discovered that a program Berkeley Peer Assistance and Review (B-PAR)
program was being used to target senior teachers and his BFT union president
Cathy Cambell who was being paid to be part of this anti-labor and discriminatory apparatus.
His struggle to learn about this operation led to his being targeted by the
administration and the union officials. He also discusses the growing national
movement of public school teachers seeking to defend the profession and the
future of public education and the role of the Vergara decision. This interview
was done in the studio of KPFA Pacifica Radio on August 12, 2014.
