Every October the County of Alameda in partnership with the California State Department of Rehabilitation host a one-day educational event in celebration of National Disability Awareness Month. Please join us this year on Thursday, October 16, 2014 at the Hilton Garden Inn – Bay Bridge, 1800 Powell Street in Emeryville for the 11th Annual Disability Employment Awareness Conference and Training. Our goal is to facilitate the cultivation of effective management in support of true inclusion. Your support by participating or sponsoring this event will assist in inspiring others to utilize the untapped pool of talented, diverse and vibrant people with disabilities in the workforce.
This year’s conference will feature keynote speakers Kathleen Martinez, Assistant Secretary of Labor for Disability Employment Policy and Former Special Assistant to the President of the United States for Disability Policy, Kareem Dale. Course descriptions are available on-line at http://acdec.eventbrite.com and will feature presentations by subject matter experts in various areas including the interactive process, disabled veteran resources, mental health, disability discrimination and workplace investigations. Courses have been pre-approved for PHR, SPHR and GPHR recertification credit and an application will be submitted for MCLE credits.
The conference is an opportunity for management professionals in human resources, law and other professionals interested in diversity and inclusion (D&I) workforce development to discuss best practices and gain knowledge relative to disabilities.
