We finally had a decent size peace march of perhaps 6,000 people protesting the US/Israel Massacre in Gaza today, July 20, 2014, taking up ALL OF MARKET STREET, for perhaps 5 blocks. See photos and stories at
https://www.facebook.com/events/1443023179317181/
We had great music from a brass band to Korean drums, the usual tremendous enthusiasm of the hundreds of young people that energized all of us and for the first time, a huge die-in on Market Street at 4th Street, with the entire march sitting down on the street, listening to the names and ages of the dead Palestinians read out loud. This was certainly a teachable moment for the Union Square shoppers who watched and listened in silence. They were told by the participants that the Palestinians were murdered with our tax dollars, and that murder was supported 100% by every single Democrat and Republican at every level of office, that Obama & McCain are the same and that only Peace & Freedom Party and the Green Party opposed the US/Israel massacre of Palestinians. We need much greater numbers but to have any kind of demonstration in support of Palestine is a milestone in history here in the belly of the beast, the primary perpetrator of the world's grief, Nazi USA.
