Public notice is given regarding changes made to SB4, a California bill which regulates well stimulation (otherwise known as fracking). Public comments are now being accepted at DOGGRRegulations [at] conservation.ca.gov. Written comment period closes July 28, 2014.

Locally, a public hearing is set in Salinas on July 23, from 4pm - 7pm. National Steinbeck Center, Salinas Room, One Main Street.

The Division of Oil, Gas, and Geothermal Resources must certify an environmental analysis of SB 4 by July 1, 2015. Also the Natural Resources Agency must commission an independent scientific study of well stimulation by January 1, 2015; a timeline for the study is being developed.
