THE FALSE HOPE OF ALTERNATIVE ENERGY SOURCES
with Ken Peterson

It is a common belief amongst politicians, the public, and even top environmentalist leaders that “clean,” renewable, alternative energy sources can almost completely replace our use of fossil fuels in the foreseeable future — thus allowing global industrial society to continue pretty much as it is. All we have to do is ramp up and perfect the use of renewables such as wind, solar, and hydro power. Not so! We will discuss the aspects of these methodologies that make it highly unlikely that any one, or any combination of them, can replace fossil fuels. For our discussion we will focus primarily on two articles written by the energy and financial analyst Gail Tverberg, shown below, and other sources will be included as well.
