50 Cell Phone Transmitters in Day Valley?
A Hearing is set for April 8, 2014 at 10:45 a.m., Fifth Floor, County Building 701 Ocean Street, Santa Cruz. Attend if you can, but send an email in any event.
Verizon Wireless, through their contractor Crown Castle, is seeking permits to install 13 Cell Transmitters in a one square mile area along Day Valley Road/Freedom Blvd/McDonald Road, 2-3 times the power needed for full cell phone coverage. The units are placed directly in front of homes and preschools and are bunched in highly visible areas.
If Verizon obtains their permits, AT&T has stated their intent to install their own multi transmitter system in the same area, leaving 26 or more cell transmitters in a one square mile area in Day Valley. Other companies could follow suit and saturate the area with a total of 40 - 50 cell transmitters.
Over 220 persons thus far have signed a petition demanding that the County deny Verizon the permits for this project.
Please help address this issue by writing an email to the County of Santa Cruz Board of Supervisors and attending the hearing on April 8.
