Event Type:
Protest
Organizer/Author:
Location Details:
Redwood Grove @ Ridge Road and Le Roy Avenue, Berkeley.
Protest the removal of a grove of redwood trees at Ridge Road and Le Roy Avenue.
Cal Day (4/12) at 10AM is the ground breaking ceremony for the privatized Paul Jacobs Design Institute, on the lot where the trees now stand.
Stop UC-Qualcomm from cutting down redwood trees in Berkeley. Paul Jacobs is the chairperson of the board for Qualcomm. Sherry Lansing is a UC Regent and also on the board of directors for Qualcomm.
The UC claims all the trees in the grove are diseased, but that is a lie. The trees are healthy. Berkeley Mayor Tom Bates is claiming the redwood trees obstruct the sidewalk, but that is a lie. The trees do not block the sidewalk.
The overwhelming majority of residents, students and faculty want the trees to stay; the UC, Qualcomm and the mayor are ignoring the overwhelming demand that the trees be left unharmed.
