The Haight Ashbury Neighborhood Council's March 17 meeting will be devoted to public transit and Mayor Lee's plan to spend some $10 Billion on transit "improvements" over the next 15 years. Just who is to pay for these improvements and exactly what changes are planned are big questions we hope to begin to address at this meeting.

The context in which SFMTA defines "effectiveness" as fewer stops and only crowded buses as "efficient" leads to Mayor Lee's November $500 million bond plus other funding sources. Will these funds only buy new buses? What about improving maintenance and operations? Will new riders be enticed and served versus existing neighborhoods?

Transit Justice Coalition members will present their views on these and related matters.

Park Library, 1833 Page/Cole, 7-9 pm
