Justice for Jordan Davis
Stop the Legal Lynching of Black Youth
In an outrageous decision, a mistrial was declared in the Jacksonville, Florida murder trial of Michael Dunn. He was NOT convicted for the cold blooded murder of 18 year old Jordan Davis. He was convicted of lesser charges of second degree attempted murder for firing at the three Black youth that were with Jordan. Once again, a racist bigot murders an unarmed Black youth, claims he feared for his life, and is not convicted of murder. Once again, open season is declared on Black and Latino youth in America.
Michael Dunn fired ten times into the car in which Jordan Davis and three friends were sitting in a gasoline station parking lot. What was the crime of these young Black men that merited a death sentence for Jordan Davis? They would not turn down what Michael Dunn called “thug music”. He picked a verbal fight with them. He then, reached for his 9 mm pistol, fired four shots into the car, got out of his car and fired the remaining shots at the car as the youth fled for their lives. Jordan was hit three times and died in the lap of his friend it the back seat.
This cannot stand. Come out to Union Square to express your outrage. And organize everyone you know to come out on the February 26 second anniversary of the murder of Trayvon Martin. We will not allow the system to get away with putting a bulls eye on the back of our Black and Latino youth. We must loudly act and proclaim, “NO MORE, NO MORE, NO MORE!”
