Stop Twitter Tax Subsidies & Attacks On Health Care Benefits SEIU1021 SF City Workers Rally
San Francisco city workers who are members of the 17,000 chapter of SEIU 1021 marched and protested at Twitter because of their tax subsidies while members are taking pay cuts for more healthcare costs. The rally took place on February 12, 2014.
Hundreds of San Francisco SEIU 1021 city workers on February 12, 2014 marched and protested at Twitter corporate headquarters. They demanded an end to tax subsidies and the defense of their healthcare benefits. Under previous ballot propositions supported by San Francisco labor leaders, city workers are paying substantially more for their healthcare and pension benefits cutting their real wages.
Many of SEIU 1021 workers are angry about their declining income while the Mayor Ed Lee is giving hundreds of millions of dollars in tax subsidies to billionaires and their tech corporations and $11.5 million to Oracle billionaire Larry Ellison's Americas Cup. Some workers also reported that that do not even get 40 hours a week. This is part of their contract negotiations with the City and County of San Francisco.
