The Congo in Crisis
Breaking the Silence National Tour
More than five million people have been killed in the Democratic Republic of Congo (formerly Zaire) over the past 15 years. Why is this history rarely reported in the corporate media here? What is the role of the U.S. government and its allies in this ongoing crisis in the Congo and the region.
Featured Speakers:
Maurice Carney, co-founder & Executive Director of the Friends of the Congo, has worked with Congolese for over fifteen years in their struggle for peace, justice and human dignity.
Akbar Muhammad, International Representative of the Nation of Islam, Washington DC radio host, just returned from tour of several countries in West Africa
Discussion will follow presentations.
$5-10 donation (no one turned away for lack of funds)
Wheelchair accessible. Refreshments provided.
