Whether you're a renter or a landowner, if you don't understand property taxes and how they affect land speculation, you can't do anything to effectively address the high rents in San Francisco and California.
Leon Phat proposes to repeal Proposition 13, and tax the daylights out of land values while removing the assessment on improvements.
You are invited to attend a FREE fifty minute property tax workshop that will use real assessments to demonstrate just how slanted in favor of land owners the tax system is, and to point out practical policy that will kill land speculation and fully fund social infrastructure.
Learn what will happen when land values are taxed heavily and buildings aren’t taxed at all. And when you're done, step across the street to the Bernal Heights Neighborhood Center to pose relevant questions to David Campos and Leon Phat, candidates for the 17th District Assembly seat.

RENTERS AND HOMEOWNERS!
If you’re concerned by the high rents in SF,
then you have got to be tuned in to
and turned on by property taxes.
If you’re an owner, your taxes may go up!
If you’re a renter, you can’t do much unless you understand property taxes.

Why do neighbors with equivalent homes pay such different property tax?
Why are buildings rated as worth so much, while land is rated low?
Why does sprawl occur?
Why are there empty lots and vacant buildings in San Francisco?
