Event Type:
Class/Workshop
Organizer/Author:
Leon Phat
Location Details:
North side of Market Street between 5th and 6th Streets
Leon Phat, candidate for State Assembly, District 17, is hosting all the former street-side chess players to return for a stand-up round of chess. The city evicted these long-time denizens of Market Street in preparation for the high-rent new tenants of mid-Market.
Not only are long-time players encouraged to return for a round of lightning chess, but they and the public are encouraged to play a life-size game of chess revealing the politics and economics of San Francisco's rising rents . . . and introducing an antidote!
