AAUW Sunnyvale-Cupertino and the Institute of Community and Civic Engagement, De Anza College present Lisa Maatz, AAUW's Vice President for Government Relations (lobbyist.) She carries AAUW's message of equal access to the halls of power. In hearings on Capitol Hill, meetings with legislators and partnerships with other organizations, Lisa works to protect and expand the ability of women to learn, to work, to make choices for the good of their families and to contribute to American life. She was recently featured in the book, "Secrets of Powerful Women."

Lisa is known for her strategic approach to legislation and advocacy. Her career has included directing a battered women's program, working for the NOW Legal Defense and Education Fund, for the Older Women's League and being legislative aide to Congresswoman Carolyn Maloney (D-NY).
