VetFest is an educational outreach opportunity focused on homeless veterans, the human cost and ecological damages of war, and community solidarity in the efforts to eliminate war and care for our returning soldiers.
The event features workshops,film screenings, art and music as well as vendors from Veteran Service organizations and mental health professionals. Other vendors include local businesses such as organic produce,crafts and barbershops.
The event is all inclusive,for veterans and their families as well as active duty service members. Workshops and discussions about issues such as military sexual assault,treatment of women and minorities, PTSD and holistic healing, the radicalization of veterans and the anti-war movement. There will be an Ohlone blessing ceremony and drum circles.
Raffles and sales of merchandise (paintings and crafts created by veterans) will generate funds to be donated to Veterans for Peace "March Across America" project.
Sleeping bags, socks, and other essential items will be donated by "vet friendly" companies such as Coleman and REI.
The event is FREE..
