Three years ago, on 25 January 2011, was launched the most tumultuous popular uprising in Egypt's 7000-year history. But today many believe that Egypt is almost back where it started.
Understanding the role of the generals, the nature of state power, the divergent interests of the opposition, and global geopolitics is essential to dissecting the events of the past three years and imagining how to forge an inclusive democratic national consensus.
Dr. Sharat G. Lin writes on global political economy, the Middle East, and labor migration. He spent two months in Tahrir Square during 2009-2012. He is a research fellow at the San José Peace and Justice Center.

Wheelchair accessible
Sponsored by the Arab American Cultural Center of Silicon Valley
