The 1030 Art Group is comprised of 12 mid-career and emerging Bay Area artists who are pushing the boundaries between digital and traditional arts by using a wide variety of techniques including photography, sculpture, painting, textiles, mathematics, collage, software and alternative printing surfaces. We are proud to present our third show at Berkeley’s vibrant community art space, The Subterranean Art House.
The third exhibit in this four-part show features Tana Lehr, Yoni Mayeri, and Joanna Ruckman. Tana Lehr investigates dense and complex graphic patterning, exploring her fascination with industrial systems and forms that expose a juxtaposition of communicative flow and an intricate visual microcosm. Yoni Mayeri shows a new series of work as a Glass Explorer taken with Google Glass, a wearable technology. In this series she explores portraits taken with the unique perspective offered through Glass, of people discovering the technology and an ongoing series of People On Devices. Joanna Ruckman presents her ongoing series of commissioned portraiture. In this work she collages traditional photography’s power to capture candid momentary expression, with the limitless possibilities of the digital canvas to create a context for that moment in the realm of imagination.
