Port of Oakland Strike is Underway
On October 21, 2013, Truckers along side other demonstrators shut down partial ports at the port of Oakland in protest of unsafe working conditions.
While a judge as recent as yesterday issued temporary restraining orders against people attempting to block scabs and other people from entering, by 5am there were enough people to do a successful picket.
Oakland Police and Alameda Sheriffs eventually formulated a plan to move and or arrest the demonstrators, but failed in their mission when word got out that a alameda sheriff pushed over a demonstrator with his baton.
Police eventually opened the port back up, but truckers have been refusing to enter.
