Currently I am seeking funds that will help me get to Fort Benning, Georgia. For this reason, I am putting on an event at the RCNV. We are proud to announce that Dana Frank, author of 'Bananeras' and specialist in militarism in Honduras, will be speaking. We will also be showing a short documentary, 'Somos Una America," that depicts the repression of U.S military training in Latin American countries. Finally towards the end we will have some local hip-hop performers. All proceeds will go towards my costs to get to SOAW November Vigil.
SOAW:
Every year, School of the Americas Watch (SOAW) commemorates victims who have been killed or disappeared due to U.S. supported military training of Latin America cadets and leaders. The SOAW gets the name from, ‘School of the Americas,’ which is the military training camp where leaders and cadets specializes in torture and psychological tactics. The School of the Americas, is located at Fort Benning, Georgia; therefore, the SOAW was created with the intention to keep a watch on the military training camp, and to pressure U.S government representatives to shut down the school once in for all.
