Stop the Bulb Eviction!
Tomorrow: BRING FOOD, BRING INSTRUMENTS, BRING TENTS, AND COME SPEND A NIGHT UNDER THE STARS AT THE ALBANY BULB!
STOP THE BULB EVICTION!
This Wednesday, October 2nd, join the Albany Bulb community for a one night campout to defend the space against impending eviction; potluck, documentary screening, live music, and overnight all starting at 6pm!! The City of Albany and The Sierra Club are trying to push 60+ residents who have maintained this space for decades out of their homes and onto the streets of Albany. Share the Bulb and help fight eviction!
The Albany Bulb has been home to hundreds of otherwise homeless individuals over several decades, and currently houses more than 60 people. The land was originally a solid waste landfill, but the hard work and artistic contributions of the Bulb residents and allied community members has turned the place into one of the most physically and psychologically safe places to be homeless in the Bay Area, as well as a much-loved hub for art and alternative culture.
The city has issued an order to its police force to begin enforcing the City's anti-camping ordinance on the land, beginning in October. Our intention is to protest the impending eviction, and to collectively commit to returning to the land to prevent the eviction if the city tries to remove the landfill’s art and residents.
