The CIA began Operation Gladio shortly after WWII in order to stop, or repress, the Italian Communists from coming to power in Italy. They used a series of repressive tactics, such as right wing terrorist attcks and bombings. While Operation Gladio may no longer exist, the CIA still continues to use repressive tactics against the population in other countries, most notably the Middle East, by linking up with Al Qaeda abd Islamic terrorists. Revelation after revelation has come out in the news, government documents and memos after 9/11 that the U.S. government was and knew that Islamic terrorists might attack key U.S. institutions and targets. That is why the U.S. government has come down so hard on key U.S. whistleblowers such as Eric Snowden and Bradley Manning, They are exposing the real facts behind the "War on Terror", revealing that the U.S. hired and funded terrorist long before 9/11. Thus, whar we see from these leaks is that the "War on Terror"is used as a justification for the U.S. state to attack and deny our civil liberties through such draconian legislation as the Patriot Act and Obama's spying program against the entire American People.
