Ana Rivera will be speaking about the currant situation in Honduras and the strategies and needs of the resistance movement. This event is sponsored by BALASC (Bay Area Latin America Solidarity Coalition)
Ana Gabriela Rivera is a 25 year old
resistance leader from the organization Los
Necios based in Honduras’ capital,
Tegucigalpa. Ana was enrolled at the
Catholic University of Honduras, studying
for an Environmental Engineering degree
when the coup against President Jose
Manuel Zelaya occurred in 2009. At that
moment Ana joined the political resistance
movement. Within the Los Necios
Organization Ana was chosen to coordinate
the creation of the Feminist Marxist
Collective called Las Necias, at the same
time maintaining the environmental
agenda, writing articles for the newspaper
Los Necios and social networks. Fighting in
the streets, raising the flags of sexual
diversity, participation of women, rights for
freedom and also growing professionally
and ideologically in the training school of
Los Necios, Ana has become a youth leader.
Currently she is Secretary of International
Affairs for Los Necios and sub coordinator
of the Feminist Collective Las Necias
